One of Lucky Groomings core missions is giving back to those who have given so much to us--our military men and women.
We know that there’s nothing we can do that will fully repay our service men and women for the sacrifice they have made on our behalves.
However, we think it’s important to lend a hand and make a difference in as many ways as we can.
One way to give back is by sending care packages overseas.
It’s amazing how much a simple package can mean to someone who is deployed and is missing out on the simple comforts of home--like enjoying a candy bar or getting a new pair of socks--that we often take for granted.
So, today, we’re going to suggest 3 types of care packages that you can put together and send to someone who is serving overseas.
Check it out...
Basic Needs Care Package
From needing new socks to having to purchase a toothbrush, we all have basic needs that need to be taken care of.
That being said, it’s not always easy to pick up a tube of toothpaste or purchase new socks while you’re deployed in the middle of a desert or jungle.
Certainly, military bases that are stationed around the world do provide military men and women the opportunity to purchase these types of items. However, what’s available is often different or not as a nice as what you might find at your local shopping center.
That’s why we recommend sending out basic needs care packages.
Here’s what we recommend you include in this package…
- Bar soap
- Dental floss
- Hair brush
- Travel size shampoo, conditioner, and shaving cream
- Feminine hygiene products
- Baby wipes
- Advil / Tylenol
- Beanie/gloves for cold climate
- A handwritten note that thanks the military member for his/her service
- Beard balm
- Beard oil
Comfort Care Package
After being overseas for months, it’s no surprise that someone would start missing the everyday comforts of home that we take for granted everyday.
For that reason, we wanted to suggest sending a package which we call the “comfort care package.”
This package contains a variety of comfort items, from snacks to new clothing items.
Here’s what to include…
- New socks
- New soft, comfy t-shirts
- New pajama pants
- Packaged cookies
- Packaged chips
- Packaged candy (choose a variety)
- Beef jerky
- Flavored tea packets
- Hot cocoa powder

- Lip balm
- Body lotion
- Drink mix packets
- Hats / winter beanies for cold weather
- Handknit scarves and gloves for cold weather
- Uplighting movie
- Inspirational book
- Package of handwritten notes for encouragement
Entertainment Care Package
After a long day of adhering to military duties, every service member needs to take time to rest, relax, and unwind.
That being said, there aren’t always a whole lot of activities of entertainment opportunities for men and women overseas--especially if your are deployed in a remote area.
For that reason, we think it’s a great idea to send entertainment packages to our military men and women.
Here’s what we recommend including in the package…
- Board Games
- Gift cards for services like Itunes or Netflix
- Snacks (popcorn, nuts, candy) to enjoy while playing games or watching movies
- Crossword puzzles
- Adult coloring books/crayons/markers
